Mock Education Ministers Summit

let’s raise ambition for climate education!

Read the first-ever unified statement on climate education from the world’s youth below!

Our Mock COP Treaty calls for better climate education as an urgent priority. Currently, formal education does not adequately prepare students to face the frightening effects of the climate crisis nor teach them about the solutions.

So, we wanted to do something about this! We hosted a Mock Education Ministers Summit, an online event that mobilized young people worldwide to assess the current state of climate education in their country and negotiated to create a unified youth definition and set of asks for quality climate education.

We received global press coverage, in National World, Yahoo! and Edie. A delegate, reflecting on the event, said they ‘loved the collaborative aspect and the effort that we collectively and individually put into making the unified statement. It shows our true capabilities — the power of united youths under the same purpose’.

Now, we our delegates will be supported to engage with their country ministers to secure commitments to quality climate education in the run-up to COP28. We are supporting delegates to do this with capacity-building workshops on campaigning and advocacy. At COP28, we will launch this commitment with 30 founding signatories to build ambition and momentum on global quality climate education.
